Keyword Search Tips

1. When setting up a Keyword search, use Boolean search terms. You can use the Boolean operators AND, OR, NOT.
2. Capitalize all letters in the Boolean operators.
   For example: Oracle OR Ellison; Microsoft AND Gates
3. The operator AND retrieves articles containing all of the listed words/phrases.
4. The operator OR retrieves articles containing one or more of the listed words/phrases.
5. If no operators are entered, the search defaults to an AND search.
   For example: Microsoft Oracle is understood as Microsoft AND Oracle. Only articles containing both the words Microsoft and Oracle will be retrieved.
6. Place quotation marks around phrases and company names of more than one word.
   For example: "executive turnover"; "Burlington Coat Factory"
7. If a Keyword search by company name is producing too many alerts, try adding the company's headquarters location as an additional search term.
   For example: Microsoft AND Redmond
